Race for Education

WHEN: Wednesday, November 24 (The day before Thanksgiving)

 

WHERE: Summer Street School 

 

On Race Day, November 24th, students will walk laps outside the school as many times as possible in 30-45 minutes to earn their sponsors’ donations. We encourage you to come cheer them on! 

 

9:00 - 9:30 am - Kindergarten and First graders

 

9:45 - 10:30 am - Second, Third, and Fourth graders: 

WHAT: The Race for Education is our biggest fundraiser for the SSS PTO the year. 

 

The money raised will directly benefit the teachers and students at the Summer Street School by supporting the initiatives set forth in the school improvement plan, specifically focusing on the social emotional learning and diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.

 

Students will walk laps outside of the school (a new construction safe route) during the morning of Wednesday, November 24th. Participants get pledges from family, friends, and neighbors.

 

This year’s theme is “Poppit Parade!”

Why are we raising money?

 

Your support allows the PTO to continue to fund many great enrichment programs and events at SSS. The money raised will directly benefit the teachers and students at the school by supporting the initiatives set forth in the school improvement plan specifically focusing on the social emotional learning and diversity, equity and inclusion goals.

This year’s funds will go directly to purchasing flexible classroom furniture that promotes learning and creativity, a sensory pathway, as well as diverse media center and classroom books and art supplies.

 

How do I get pledges?

Ask friends and family! 

This year we are using an online fundraising site called Pledgestar. Register yourself at https://pledgestar.com/summerstreet/ and follow the simple registration steps to add your “walker(s)”.

 

For families with multiple students, you will have the convenience of sharing one fundraising page. Grandma doesn’t have to pick a favorite! It takes just minutes to set-up your family’s own page to request pledges. People can donate using credit cards, checks, or cash. 

 

Is there still a paper mailer?

Yes, we are sending home one copy (which can be downloaded here). You can use the paper mailer to share with people who would like a printed version. 

 

You can download and print the paper mailer, or please let us know if you need additional copies and we will get them to you.

 

 

Can we still have family or friends mail in checks?

 

Yes, there are two options for mailing in checks.

 

Option 1: Share your link to Pledgestar. Then people can make their pledge for your walker and follow the steps to mail in a check.

 

Option 2: Share the paper version of the mailer with your family and then they can mail a check directly to Summer Street School. 

 

 

What is the Goal?

 

Our goal is to raise $25,000. With your help, we can reach this goal!
